This musical setting of Psalm 8 was composed and performed by Richard Schletty at www.schlettysound.com. Much credit and thanks go to Paul F. Page and André van Haren for help with piano arrangement and engraving. Psalm 8 is typically sung at a Catholic Mass for Holy Trinity Sunday. It is a beautiful observation of the power, majesty and care of God, the Master Architect of Life.

O Lord, our God, how wonderful your name in all the earth!
Verse 1
Cmaj7 D Bm7 Em

Cmaj7 Bm7 E
the moon and the stars which you arranged,
Cmaj7 D Em
what is man that you should keep him in mind,
Am7 Bm7 E E7
the son of man that you care for him?
Refrain
Verse 2
Cmaj7 D Bm7 Em
Yet you have made him little lower than the angels;
Cmaj7 Bm7 E
with glory and honor you crowned him,

gave him power over the works of your hands:
Am7 Bm7 E E7
you put all things under his feet.
Refrain
Verse 3

All of them, sheep and oxen,

birds of the air, and fish of the sea

that make their way through the waters.

Indeed, it did! Thanks for your artistry.
Gishi Bian says
This Psalm 8 is my favorite of your Psalms. I would encourage your continued efforts. I listened to this one many times yesterday as I motored about doing. Your rendition encouraged me to be as I was doing. Often I am a human doing. I believe the goal is to be a human being.
Richard Schletty says
You are very welcome. I am very glad this rendition helped to lift you. God bless you as you continue to “motor about.”
